My second project in Year 2 was a group project, where we were tasked in creating a top down twin stick shooter in the Unity engine. I was project lead on this assignment. We created a tower defence game, in which the player plays as a corn farmer, in the form of a chicken, who has to grow and collect crops whilst defending them from critters such as; crows, mice and rabbits.
During my role I created the games initial design and also coding the mechanics of the spawn rates of the crows. I also was in charge of sourcing and creating all the games art work (with the exception of the characters and items). I also created the Hud and Menus.
In the Alpha demo we demonstrated the game mechanics of the game which featured character and A.I movement, shooting, watering crops, crop depletion and regeneration, random A.I spawning that increases during gameplay, weather mechanics which in the demo shows drought which causes new crops to spawn with little health. One final mechanic is the scarecrow bonus item that has a 3% drop rate and kills all A.I on the screen, giving the player time to water crops.
