PROFESSIONAL PROJECTS

MyWhoosh

March 2022 – September 2024
Senior Games Designer – Avrioc Technologies – MyWhoosh
I was the Senior Games Designer, working in UAE, on a sports simulation cycling esport live opps app, creating documentation for all areas of the project from artists, developers, and QA. This mostly includes creating new features for the game, evolving, and updating current mechanics, working in Excel and Word for documentation, Photoshop for UI mock-ups and yED graph editor to show the design system flow. I have also had hands on experience with Machinations creating experience system and prize randomiser based on win or loss.
My duties also include presenting my ideas and designs to shareholders and production team, that includes also presenting pros and cons for ideas that they may also want to introduce to production. I work closely with the development team
I also work on prototyping the design features turning games design documents into physical representation for the developers to polish.

The main features I worked on as a designer were:
Shadow Replay System – Which was essentially a ghost mode for the player to be able to race against their best time during a segment or an entire route. It took all the information of the players last ride data on a specific route and then the next time they rode a ghost version of their previous ride would appear for the player to challenge to beat their previous ride.

Running Game Mode – To compete with Zwift, MyWhoosh's main competition, I worked on designing and integrating running into the product, this included testing various smart treadmills, footpods/running pods and creating documentation to ensure that the running mode was perfectly in-line with the cycling aspect of the game, making sure the UI was correct and the right data metrics were shown compared to cycling, as well as the routes in the world were for runners not just cyclist, as some of the routes have a steep incline which isn't suitable for running.
Swimming Game Mode – In 2023 MyWhoosh became the esports representative for the UCI, from 2024 - 2026, so in order to make the triathlon completely virtual, I begun working on implementation of rowing machines, to act as a swimming alternative. This meant that the world of MyWhoosh but be filled with multiple different sports all happening in one game world location at once, and players could see other users, cycling, running and swimming, in a complete virtual world.
Economy and Achievements - I designed the original economy system and achievements, which included the in-game shop for cycling and running avatar gear, and rewards for completing certain milestones. This would later be adapted by a JR designer into what is now in the game as badges and the season pass.

July 2021 – March 2022
Lead Level Designer – Avrioc Technologies – MyWhoosh

Before working as one of the games designers at MyWhoosh, I was the lead level designer, where I researched different real-world areas for biomes, buildings, and POIs. Creating a 2D map for shareholders to approve before creating splines inside the Unreal Engine, using a custom tool that along with a tech artist we created for the project, which could give off accurate elevation that was tested by professional cyclists for the true player/rider feel, followed by white boxing for the artists to set dress.

AlUla World– I fully designed the AlUla world which is currently in the live build of the game as of February 2022, and my last act of level design was evolving the AlUla world and create a new climb for the riders within the world that went live in June 2022
