Endless Runner

During my masters I was challenged with creating a game that had three player mechanic variants and three AI/obstacle variants. I decided to create a simple endless runner game that had pre-generated elements that were always random. For the three player mechanics I added a magnet that would attract coins to the player so they wouldn't have to manually run over them. Sneakers that acted as a speed boost allowing the player to reach maximum in-game speed to fly through the level fast, but making the player focus on their reflexes to dodge obstacles. The final mechanic was a fist that allows the player to destroy two of the three obstacles in the game however, using this against an obstacle also came with the negative effect that the player would lose points for smashing them. All three pick-up mechanics can be used at once and have a 10 second window.

The three obstacles I used were a generic pipe the player can jump over, a brick wall that the player can only go around and a spinning blade that the player can go around but also jump over with the right timing. All of the items have a different spawn percentage so that the player isn't bombarded with say three walls at once with no way around and ever increment of the map will spawn one of the random items be it a coin, one of the three pick-ups or obstacles. The demo also features a save state for the games high score.
